π©β‘πͺ I am a twenty-three year old self taught artist based in Te Whanganui-a-Tara, Aotearoa (Wellington, New Zealand.) I have been working with a variety of mediums including digital, acrylics, spray paint, collage and inks for a couple of years now.
The first layers of my pieces are very abstract and intuitive, which allows me to cut ties with my perfectionist nature and be free in my creative process. Art is very therapeutic to me and finding my own individual voice and style has helped me let go of some of the pressure to create that 'worthy' end result.
β
My mixed media pieces give a soft yet chaotic energy that is incorporated into a cohesive theme of dark and light subject matters and colour palettes and I would consider it as contemporary abstract realism.
Creating art has always been a very significant part of who I am. Growing up, art always offered me an outlet to express myself. However, I didn't limit my outlet to traditional drawing and painting as I also took an interest in digital art, photography and writing/poetry.
π©β‘πͺ During high school, I partook in painting murals through a student-founded organization formerly known as ProjectWings. In my senior years, I was also on the school council and arts council where I encouraged the exposure of the arts by incorporating culture and mental health into school/community art projects. This enabled both intermediate and high school students of all ages to feel more comfortable not only talking about but also embracing the issues young people face in daily life.
β
In 2016 I produced a piece that was auctioned off with the proceeds going to the charity EvasWish - founded by my friend, the late Eva Mcgauley. Her legacy continues to live on through her charity, as proof that one's will and voice can be the power of change.
β
In 2018 one of my paintings was also part of another auction to raise money. I felt really honoured to be a part of these two events as they enabled my art to support those who needed it and would love to pursue similar projects in the future.
β
A pleasant end to my high school days was first and foremost the thought of never having to submit another NCEA artboard again, but also the delight of being awarded the Chris Parkin art scholarship which gave me funding to pursue my artistic endeavors.

π©β‘πͺ In 2019 I was a member of The Fine Arts Academy situated on the Te Whanganui-a-Tara waterfront and displayed my work there in multiple exhibitions including art swaps with other New Zealand artists.
β
During the pandemic, I studied an online art course and took on projects such as commissions for overseas business logos, tattoo concepts, and paintings. I also had the opportunity to exhibit my art in the annual KΔpiti Arts trail. β
Currently, I am a level 5 art student working towards a NZQA diploma in creativity. I am widening my skill set by exploring new mediums such as screenprinting and printmaking and how I can translate my art onto various mediums. Overall I would like to work on bigger-scale projects and make an impact with my work.
π©β‘πͺ From here I aspire to better my skills and establish myself as an artist - taking commissions, selling originals/prints, and sharing my work. Down the line, it would interest me to learn tattooing as I would love to bring to fruition people's true self expression by creating permament art they can carry with them forever.
I am also interested in futhering my studies down the path of art therapy as I am very passionate about mental health awareness and helping people through the process of creating.
β
Much love,
β
